December 17, 2007 (Washington, D.C.)—Natural products retailers and suppliers from across the country will gather to exchange trade information, learn about the industry, and peruse booths showcasing industry’s best products at the Natural Products Association’s 71st annual trade show and convention — Natural MarketPlace 2008 — July 17 - 19, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Natural MarketPlace is the largest single event hosted by the nation’s oldest and most influential industry trade association, where retailers, suppliers, manufacturers and other leaders come together to discuss industry trends, explore business opportunities, and network. The association’s event will again take place at the world-class Sands Expo and Convention Center and The Venetian Resort Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip. Natural MarketPlace 2008 offers a new and exciting schedule expanded in response to survey results from industry retailers. This year’s trade show will open on Friday and continue through Saturday, allowing retailers plenty of time to enjoy the show’s well-known relaxed and congenial atmosphere that encourages networking and relationship building. In addition, Thursday’s schedule will include the highly regarded educational conference with some of the natural products industry’s most insightful and provocative speakers. The educational opportunities available at Natural MarketPlace make it unique among industry trade shows and an invaluable resource for learning more about all aspects of the industry, whether you are an exhibitor or own a health food store. Past conference seminars have focused on key topics such as consumer and product trends, business improvement, new discoveries in nutrition research, and preparing for legislative and regulatory developments, such as our widely popular good manufacturing practices (GMPs) training program. Participants can anticipate another stellar show, with both top-of- the-line exhibitors and experienced retailers who make up the core of our industry and innovative new products and exhibitors making their debut in the industry. Eighty percent of Natural MarketPlace attendees have direct purchasing power, and 35 percent of attendees report annual sales in excess of $1 million, making for an informed audience for our large numbers of high-profile exhibitors. Attendees will see the hottest new natural products from innovative, top-quality exhibitors including dietary supplements, functional foods and beverages, health and beauty aids, sports nutrition, herbals, organics, homeopathics, pet products, natural/green home products and much more. As with past Natural Products Association trade shows, natural product retailers are invited to walk the show floor free of charge. “As a health food store owner, Natural MarketPlace has long been a key annual event to discover new innovations that keep my store at the cutting edge of our industry,” said Deborah Short of Shawnee, Oklahoma. “In addition, as an educational experience, Natural MaketPlace has given me the opportunity to stay abreast of new regulations and trends in living a natural lifestyle and has really helped me expand my business.” In addition to exciting trade show exhibits, attendees can enjoy special events on the show floor such as the annual People’s Choice Awards blind taste-test competition and live product and service demonstrations or the always anticipated product launches and scientific poster sessions Participants are also invited to attend other show events such as the popular President’s Reception, our keynote event and the association’s annual business meeting. As part of the Natural Products Association’s ongoing effort to best serve our members, we encourage members to suggest event activities or seminars that would enhance the Natural MarketPlace experience. Because Natural MarketPlace is one of many educational events the association holds throughout the year, we aim to present the most valuable and pertinent information for our industry. Healthcare-associated infections have never posed a greater threat. Preventing HAI is one of the most pressing and important issues in healthcare today – and both the government and the public have taken notice. While infection control has never been a source of hospital revenue, the potential cost avoidance of a well-developed, comprehensive program is substantial. And with public reporting mandates and changes to CMS reimbursement policies, the message from the government could not be clearer: eliminate hospital-acquired infections or risk Medicare reimbursement dollars and possibly punitive measures. Investing in prevention is one of the smartest things you can do – for patient safety and financial security. This conference will examine best-practice case studies and proven tools that will demonstrate the importance of a well-rounded and efficient infection control program. Now more than ever, IC programs need to secure their resources, adopt and optimize latest technologies, and ensure compliance to best practices. The distinguished faculty at this event will provide you with best practices to: Leverage transparency to prepare your department for public reporting and legislative mandates Increase compliance and improve employee commitment to quality through simple yet effective strategies Re-assess cost-effectiveness of current protocols and determine which need to be upgraded Optimize strategies for creating culture changes across all employee levels, from the environmental services staff to the Chief Executive Officer Integrate new, evidence-based best practices that will yield the greatest ROI Capitalize on new technologies to provide your patients with the greatest advancements in care Eliminating HAI is Essential to Maintaining Bottom-Line Results The World Research Group’s 4th Annual Conference on Achieving ROI for Eliminating Healthcare-Associated Infections conference will bring together healthcare leaders who recognize that preventing infections is a top priority for keeping patients safe and keeping costs and bed days from skyrocketing out of control. As more and more payers begin to refuse payment for extra days that are caused by HAI, attendance at this conference becomes all the more important. Specifically you will hear how: Southcoast Hospital Group embraced voluntary transparency by reporting its infection rates to its board and on its website as a tool to spur quality improvement and how it motivates employees and patients to sustain these enhanced outcomes Duke University Medical Center developed an in-house, query-based technology system to track infections throughout the facility Albert Einstein Healthcare Network leveraged a Positive Deviance program to re-evaluate its behaviors and pinpoint problems in implementing best practices Centers for Disease Control and Prevention expanded the National Healthcare Safety Network into a nationwide tool for all hospitals Michigan Health & Hospital Association’s Keystone Center for Patient Safety rolled out its successful statewide infection prevention programs from the ICU to entire healthcare facilities Vanderbilt University Medical Center built a strong relationship between upper level administrators and infection control staff, communicated its need and doubled its IC staff The conference on Achieving ROI for Eliminating Healthcare-Associated Infections is the only conference that brings together practitioners, administrators, directors, and executives to share how they have communicated the importance of IC to every employee – from CEOs to patient access staff. Attendees have always found this conference to be full of invaluable information, but this year’s innovative, interdisciplinary line-up of national leaders is sure to bring the most cutting-edge strategies and ideas to the podium. Hear how St. Barnabas Healthcare, Rochester General Hospital, and St. Rose Dominican Hospital have strategically developed and designed their MRSA screening tactics to eliminate this deadly HAI. Remember, IC must be a concern and priority for all of your employees and bringing a team of participants will ensure that this conference has the greatest possible impact on your facility’s outcomes. Register a team of 3 people and the 4th member attends free! Register early and enjoy the greatest discounts!
