This course is designed for individuals who never had the opportunity to learn wood design basics in a university-level course, but are involved in the design, construction, and inspection of wood buildings. The primary focus and objectives of this course are a mastery of wood design basics and understanding of the many factors routinely used and required by the 2005 National Design Specification for Wood Construction.

This institute grew out of a number of discussions between representatives of Virginia Tech, the Virginia Department of Transportation, and the Virginia Road and Transportation Builders' Association. Together these organizations saw a need to: Provide a management development program tailored to the needs of transportation construction professionals to help them meet the demands of the Commonwealth's new initiatives in transportation construction. Develop and present such a program as a joint venture between the Department of Transportation and the Road and Transportation Builders' Association in order to improve communication and develop a sense of joint commitment within the industry as a whole.

The 7th LATT Conference will be held March 26-29, 2008 at Virginia Tech. While abstracts on any aspect of Latin American Theatre may be submitted the general focus of the conference will be the question of the term itself "Latin American Theatre" and what that rubric has come to mean in cultural, political and geographical terms since the first LATT conference was held in 1982. the objective is to erase artificial regional and national frontiers, incorporate theatre people working in many regions and in different languages, and at the same time channel the dialogue toward some of the larger cultural issues that now engage Latin American and US Latino/a theatre scholars and practitioners, such as translation, adaptation, migration and the effects of globalization on cultural identities.

The Soft Tissue Series is an intensive three-day forum. The course offers 24 contact hours or 2.4 Continuing Education Units (CEUs). There are lectures in the mornings and surgical labs in the afternoons. the cost of this program includes lodging at the Inn at Virginia Tech and Skelton Conference Center on December 16-18 (Sunday evening through Wednesday morning). Breakfast and lunch, as well as dinner on MOnday. You will receive a copy of Fossum's Small Animal Surgery, a set of four videotapes of the surgical procedures covered in this course, lecture handouts, and a certificate of completion.
