The population is rapidly getting older as the baby boomers turn 65. Exploding with it is the field of aging research. For many years there has been a small group of scientists, gerontologists, studying the reasons we age; how, and can we slow down the process. In recent years many more scientists have joined the field. This has led to a questioning of old and established theories as well as the putting forth of new theories. Some scientists look at aging as a disease that we can cure. Others think of it as an inevitable process that perhaps we can slow down. And yet others think aging is the process of living but hopefully we can cure the diseases associated with aging.
This conference will discuss these many theories and the inevitable debates that go with it. Through a format of presentations, panels, and networking, scientists established in the field and ones just entering will be able to explore the latest issues in this important and young field.
